We are on the corner of Plac Nowy and Estery street. In front of us we can find Alchemia – a place where every one of us has already been and if not he or she surely will. Right after passing the doorstep you can feel it is an extraordinary place, full of the spirit of Kazimierz. It is dark here, stuffy and intriguing – why, it is an alchemist’s laboratory. Over the bar made of stone there is laboratory glass, candles and shelves weighing down under old lumber. They say that the small chamber with an entrance near the bar is wainscoted with beams that remained after the fire of St. Catherine’s church. In the most spacious, stylish main room there are many paintings and a surprising passage through a wardrobe leading to another room. It is where you drink beer looking at interesting photos. The last room of Alchemia is a kitchen – a real one, with a dresser and a wooden table. Not long ago a theatrical stage has been activated here, specializing in contemporary art. To put it short: despite any skeptical opinions, Alchemia is one of the extraordinary, lively, or even cult flagships of Cracow. You just have to be here!
